How to stay positive when everything around you is negative

When things spin out of control and leave you in a negative, depressed state, how do you cope?

There are so many negative things happening outside of yourself that continually come at you. These things can wear you down unless you know how to deal with them.

What makes it even more difficult is the collapse of basic infrastructure, the reduction of infrastructure such as power, 30 years of misrule by a corrupt government that has been responsible for increasing poverty to levels never experienced in the country before.

Homeless people are descending on suburbs to beg and sleep outside in the cold and use public facilities and resources. Trees are chopped up. Fires are made in public places. Litter is spread over the streets. Open spaces are used as public toilets.

You also have to deal with your personal problems. Bills to pay. Domestic issues to sort out. Controlling expenses as the giant companies take more and more money from you for the same services such as data, insurance and food, to name only a few.

For many working in companies is a nightmare. The officials are deliberately getting rid of people to fill quotas. Staff morale is down. Employees are working with higher levels of stress. Conflict is high. Workplaces have become nasty places.

I don’t know what the answer really is. All I can say is after years of experience that perhaps the only way to deal with all this is to try to control the things you can control rather than be buffeted and depressed by all the external negativity.

This is why I think knowing how to have a positive outlook is so important. But how do you achieve a positive outlook when all this negativity surrounds you?

Life can be challenging, and at times, negativity may seem to surround us from all directions. However, in the face of adversity, maintaining a positive attitude can be a powerful tool to navigate through difficult situations.

This blog post aims to provide practical strategies and routines that can help you foster a positive mindset even when everything around you seems negative.

  1. Create a Daily Affirmations Routine:
  2. Develop a habit of affirming positive statements about yourself and your capabilities. Repeating these affirmations daily can help reinforce a positive self-image and mindset.

  1. Practice Self-Compassion:
  2. Be kind to yourself and understand that it’s okay to have bad days. Treat yourself with the same compassion you would offer to a friend facing challenges.

In a world that can sometimes seem overwhelmingly negative, maintaining a positive attitude is a valuable asset.

By implementing gratitude, mindfulness, and surrounding yourself with positive influences, you can nurture a more positive outlook on life.

Remember to reframe negative thoughts, set achievable goals, and engage in activities that bring you joy.

Ultimately, with consistent effort and dedication, you can cultivate a positive attitude that empowers you to overcome any negative situation life throws your way.

Are you afraid that you might be a lone wolf in business?

People in business tell you that being a lone wolf is bad but here are the benefits

In companies where I worked I found that the lone wolf was abhorred.

You’ve got to be a team player, was the mantra.

There was almost a fear among employers that the lone wolf would be disruptive. I think it was more about employers fearing that employees would act on their own, using their brain and free will. They didn’t like independent thinkers.

Strange atitude from employers because there are numerous benefits of the lone wolf.

Here I think of the scouts who assisted the pioneers in America in the 1800s. These were people who knew the lay of the land and the indigenous inhabitants.

Something that sticks in my mind is a scout who cooked some buffalo meat on a fire. His companion suddenly saw three indigenous Americans come silently out of the Prairie. The scout hadn’t moved but knew that this three of them were there.

Such uncanny skill.

Let’s look at some of the benefits of being a lone wolf in business.

In the fast-paced world of business, a “lone wolf” refers to an individual who chooses to work independently, eschewing the traditional path of forming partnerships or joining teams. This approach is characterized by a strong sense of self-reliance, autonomy, and a preference for making decisions and pursuing opportunities without seeking assistance or collaboration from others.

Advantages of Being a Lone Wolf in Business:

  1. Agility and Speed: As a lone wolf, you have the freedom to act swiftly and decisively without being hindered by group dynamics or consensus-building. This agility allows you to seize opportunities and adapt to changing market conditions more efficiently.
  2. Personal Vision: Being independent means you have the sole ownership of your business vision and strategies. You can pursue your goals without having to compromise or align with the interests of others.
  3. Flexibility: Lone wolves have the luxury to pivot their business direction quickly without the need for lengthy discussions or approvals, which is especially beneficial in unpredictable markets.
  4. Accountability: With no team members to rely on, lone wolves take full responsibility for their actions and outcomes. This heightened accountability can drive stronger commitment and determination.
  5. Efficient Decision-making: You can make critical decisions faster as a lone wolf, as there is no need to consult with others or navigate through multiple layers of hierarchy.
  6. Minimal Overhead: Without the need for a large team, lone wolves can keep their operational costs low, potentially resulting in higher profit margins.
  7. Focused Expertise: Being on your own allows you to hone your skills and specialize in specific areas of business, potentially becoming an authority in your niche.

However, despite these advantages, the lone wolf path in business also comes with its challenges:

  1. Limited Resources: As a lone wolf, you might lack the resources and manpower that a team-based approach can provide, which could be a disadvantage in tackling larger projects or initiatives.
  2. Loneliness: The solitary nature of being a lone wolf can lead to feelings of isolation, and without a support network, burnout and stress may become more prevalent.
  3. Skill Gaps: Operating alone means you must possess a diverse skill set to handle all aspects of your business, potentially stretching yourself thin and making it harder to excel in every area.
  4. Reduced Collaboration: Opportunities for brainstorming and learning from others are limited, potentially hindering your ability to innovate and find creative solutions.

In conclusion, being a lone wolf in business can be both liberating and challenging. Embracing this mentality requires a strong sense of self-confidence, adaptability, and discipline. While it allows for unmatched autonomy and agility, it’s essential to be mindful of the potential pitfalls and to actively seek opportunities for networking, learning, and support to ensure long-term success as a lone wolf entrepreneur.
