It’s amazing how quickly the year is running out.

This year has been demanding.

But it’s been thrilling.

I am very pleased with the response to the website ideaaccelerator.co.za in 2022.

Just looking at the record-high views, comments and queries during the year shows how successful the website has become.

Most pleasing are the purchases that people have made via the website, which explains the confidence and trust that people have built up in purchasing the various offerings that are available on this website.

It’s been a tough year for many and the products and services offered have helped people in countless ways to increase their income, deal with difficult business problems like business continuity and sustainability as well as those who need personal coaching.

The common denominator I have found in those who visit the site and purchase products and services is that they are resilient. They believe in educating themselves and are grateful for any help they can get.

For lessons learned during 2022, the one that stands out is that preparing for your future requires planning. It’s certainly not the kind of stuff that you delegate to your financial planner.

It’s sad to say but financial planners are limited by the products and services they offer at a fee. A lot of it is commission-based, and it explains why instead, whatever your age, you should sit down and decide what you want and how much you are going to put away for yourself.

Large business and institution are increasingly passing on their outrageous costs to you. Their costs are rising because of the excessive number of people they are employing and the wonderful benefits (forced by laws) they are giving to those working for them while people starve on the streets.

For the business and their employees to enjoy a higher and higher standard of living, they are taking more and more from you every year.

I found this year that every debit order I have has gone up by 8%. I hate the way that insurers and medical service providers send you a “renewal”, which only means one thing: they have jacked up your fee and it’s going to cost you a whole lot more for their services.

So, costs continue to rise in a most disgraceful manner. Whatever savings you’re putting away probably won’t meet your level of expenses, even if you try to reduce them as far as you can. We can switch suppliers, but ultimately we are price takers for most goods and services.

It’s shocking how the state services are gouging money through horrifically high energy prices such as electricity and petrol. The municipalities that are now putting up rates and levies every year to pay an ever-increasing burgeoning and cushy workforce (again with outrageous benefits compared to the people who can’t get those jobs). Yet they provide a substandard, deteriorating level of service.

The other important thing that has become increasingly apparent with the present hardships is putting money away in a kitty for a rainy day.

There are many more rainy days now.

Look what happened with COVID.

Same with the dire economic circumstances in this country in particular, driven by insane economic policies (but not insane for the politicians when you understand their vicious political agenda).

The cities and suburbs are now flooded with millions and millions of people without jobs, begging on streets, sleeping in any possible place they can.

Yes, life is challenging. But how do you overcome it? The only way, unless you have a silver spoon in your mouth, gifted by parents or grandparents, is to earn an income for yourself.

There are many ways of doing this and it depends what you want to do and what you’re good at.

There’s so much to know that help from any quarter is welcome.

That’s why a website like this is doing so well.

It’s because people need help with making a living and increasing their living.

I am reminded of a remark that someone made to me years ago when I was starting out. I know it’s an old axiom or saying, but it still rings true: “If you want a helping hand, you’ll find it at the end of your arm.”

No one, not family, not friends, not the government is going to help you with your standard of living.

Look what’s happened in this country after more than 30 years.

How many people been uplifted?

You decide.

There’s another saying, “If it’s going to be, it’s up to me.” And coupled with this is, a need to have the best information you can possibly get to succeed.

It won’t stop you from failing because that’s life.

Some people start a business and they’re still running it 30 years later. Others have tried several times and only after their third or fourth attempt have they found something that is successful to run.

Now, not everybody wants to run a small business.

But many are being forced to as they are shoved out the formal business sector because of a vengeful, supremacist political agenda.

Whatever path you take in 2023, remember that your primary concern is to make a living.

Whether you like it or not, each one of us has to earn a living.
