How Well Is Your Business Doing in 2025?

Right product, right place and right market.

It’s a big question.

“How well is your business doing” isn’t just about the monthly income statement. It’s about staying sharp. It’s about pulling in enough customers to survive, maybe even thrive. It’s about dealing with setbacks, seeing what’s coming before it hits, and finding opportunity in the middle of chaos.

Because make no mistake — things are chaotic.

The South African economy is in freefall. No plan. No vision. Just a slow-motion car crash, cheered on by looters in suits and bureaucrats who’ve never run a business in their lives. And those of us actually working are left to figure it out ourselves.

Meanwhile, even the big players are gasping. Look at Multichoice — scrambling to stay afloat while subscribers cancel and the global media sharks circle. If a company that big is fighting for its life, what does that say for the rest of us?

But here’s the strange part. I’ve recently met people — normal people, not trust fund types — who are absolutely raking it in. They’ve found a pocket of the market with high margins and low noise, and they’re off to the races. Overseas holidays, new cars, the works. They figured something out. They found the money.

Because here’s the truth: there is still money out there. But getting your hands on it takes sharp thinking, fast moves, and sometimes, a risk you weren’t quite ready to take.

We’re already halfway through the year. If your business isn’t humming yet, now’s the time to get serious. No more drifting. No more waiting for “things to get better.” They won’t — not unless you do something.

I’ll say it plainly: you need to make more money. That’s the bottom line. There’s no sugar-coating it. You either find a product people want and sell the hell out of it, or you get buried by bills, regret, and competitors who saw the gap first.

I won’t hand you a magic formula. I don’t have one. But here’s a simple truth that too many people forget: it’s not about building something clever and hoping people like it. It’s about figuring out what people already want — and getting it to them faster, better, or cheaper than the next guy.

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs I know built something risky, scrappy, and a little desperate at the start. Now they’ve earned the right to put their feet up while someone else runs the show. They made it work, and now they’re out of the daily grind. That can be you — but only if you act.

So here’s your challenge for the rest of 2025:

Think harder. Move faster. Sell more.
