This is an interesting saying because going to the window means getting a bigger or broader perspective on your life.
I recently attended a half-day of presentations and the interesting thing that came out of it was how important it is to get a perspective of where your life is going.
It’s also important to know how far you’ve come.
Sometimes you don’t realize how much progress you’ve actually made, but in the cut and thrust of life you also forget about important life goals.
And these are the emotional energizers that drive you forward in life.
Some people, and it’s their own business, bump from one day to another without goals or direction.
Others plan everything before they start the day, week, or month.
Now, one approach doesn’t fit all, but without a destination or goal, knowing where you’re going to go, you can drift all over the place.
At least with goals, even if you don’t achieve them, then you can recalibrate and pursue the same goals with more energy or with a different approach.
You may also amend your goals and have new ones.
Everything’s not set in stone, but can be flexible.
One of the experts at the meeting mentioned that life isn’t all about return on investment, but it’s very important with your planning to have return on your life.
This means pursuing goals and objectives that enhance and enrich your life. It means doing things that you always wanted to do. It could be travel. It could be learning a new skill. It could be a hobby. It could be fitness objectives. Many things, actually.
But the main thing is, as I’ve mentioned, to have a sense of perspective on where your life is going.
This session that I attended helped me to look outside the window and see the view and reflect on the plans I made five years ago, where I am now, and some of the things that are important to me, but I haven’t done yet.
Now, that would be a tragedy if I didn’t pursue them, because it would be lost opportunity in my life.
Anyway, I wanted to share these thoughts on perspective and the need to, especially during difficult times in your life, to go look outside the window and get perspective.
