An ideation expert was blabbering on the radio about coming up with ideas. It sounded like he was reading from a textbook or a teleprompter. One wonders about stuff like this; whether it’s actually real or not. I don’t know where this word ideation originated and I don’t want to know. It’s easier for me to talk about coming up with ideas.

I’m not a great fan of ong lists from the internet on how to become rich with an online business. There must be millions of these lists. Look, other people enjoy reading them. I don’t know what they get out of them, but it’s up to you, as I say, if you enjoy them.

Anyway, onwards:

Before you read on to find out the ideas list below, I’ve got two sneaky tricks for you at the end of this post that will help you with any home business or any business for that matter. I’m talking small business, not giant corporations. Of course, that would be laughable.

Now if you look on the internet you’ll see all these ideas for making money from home but most of it’s online. What about if you live in a suburb or near a small town and want to do things from home? Well go look at the online lists and many of the business ideas seem unrealistic. I’ve done a little research on the internet and have come up with 10 ideas for making money from home. Look it’s not easy to make any money so putting in that word “easy” in the headline makes me uncomfortable. But once you get started and you have a regular clientele then perhaps the promise of easy money may hold.

Here’s the thing:

It would probably be best for you to come up with your own list of ideas to make money from home. Why? Well, the main reason is you know your experience, skills, interest, passion, and what you think could be commercially viable or not. It’s far better for you to come up with your own list because then the things you come up will resonate with you.

I’ve only prepared this list so that it can be an idea generator. Look at one of the items such as tutoring. Now what skill could you teach others? In your local town there are, let me tell you, heaps of people who are providing home tuition. For some people it’s their entire business. That’s how they make their money from Monday to Friday and even on weekends. So whatever your skill or inclination is, think about how you could go about making money from what you enjoy.

10. Personal Chef Services

Enjoy cooking? Offer personal chef services. Busy professionals and families hire chefs to prepare meals at home. Offer meal planning, shopping, and cooking tailored to clients’ dietary needs.

Okay, so here are the two tricks. The first one is you’ve got to test your market. You need to find out whether people like what you are making or not. So let’s take a physical product. If you’re baking cookies, for example, make some for your friends. See what they think of them. Some people love biscuits and cookies, and if yours are good, they’ll tell you straight away. They may even ask if you can make some for them and they’ll pay you, of course.

Right, so that’s the first one.

The second one is what I call hitch a ride. Now, to get your product out to a bigger customer base, try out the following. Find someone you know who goes on to a market with a stall. It really doesn’t matter what product they are selling. Ask them if you could test market your product on their stall. Some might say no, but others may say yes. So what you then do is hitch a ride. You meet up, you place your goods out on the table to one side, and then sell. If you’re successful, then you can gauge whether getting your own stall will be best for you.

So that’s it.

Remember that coming up with your own ideas based on your skills and things you enjoy is the best way forward when you want to start a business from home.
