Can you learn gratitude from books?

Before Christmas someone gave me a book on how to discover and use the power of gratitude in your life.

I looked at the title and wondered whether a book could tell you anything about gratitude that you don’t already know.

I don’t want to say anything about the author here but he’s been a good self promoter over the years and attracted a big following. Many people buy into this type of self-help advice.

If you don’t wake up in the morning feeling grateful, then you’re probably taking your life for granted.

Each one of us I’m sure as ways of expressing our gratitude for being alive and other important things that sustain our lives.

It’s interesting that people would need to read a book to be grateful.

Many of these books, courses, stage events with self-help gurus casting their pearls of wisdom to the audience almost seem naive in this new era.

A person must’ve really gone off the rails to not appreciate their five senses.

Your five senses provide you with a total experience of the world.

Without any one of them you are going to be deprived of life’s experience.

Of course, there are people who are blind, deaf, have no taste, don’t have feeling in their legs or arms and can’t smell.

They adapt and compensate and use their remaining senses with an intensity in living their lives to the fullest.

There are so many things that we can be grateful for that instead of counting sheep at night if you want to fall asleep, count 100 things that you feel grateful for that you experienced in the day you have just lived.

These senses enable us to communicate. Communication is important for many reasons. One of them is business. Another is your career.

But written communication especially in business doesn’t come naturally to everyone. If you need training or guidance on business writing, then I suggest you enroll for a one-on-one session with me or contact me to assist you with your writing
