A market perhaps with plenty of money splashing lavishly out, entertaining every night, fine dining at top quality restaurants and attending shows, then you don’t need to worry about money at all.

Supermarket shelves tell their own story. Staples have doubled, even tripled. Yet hidden deals persist for those willing to dig. Take my recent find: a case of beer from a Wynberg liquor store, cheaper than the equivalent in Coca-Cola. Meanwhile, the same product is double at retail outlets, triple at bars. Absurd? Absolutely.
Banking costs, too, have surged – prompting many to flee the “big four” for fairer options. But that’s a conversation for another time.
The crux? Surviving this economy requires grit. Build a network of reliable suppliers. Ask around. Research. Even here in the Cape, where a “petrol fee” is now part of a quote, diligence is non-negotiable.
A word on recommendations: Facebook’s ecosystem of mutual spousal promotions hardly guarantees quality. Unbiased advice? Rare as a bargain these days.
