Ever dreamed about running your own business? Maybe a cozy coffee shop, a boutique, or even a tech startup?
It’s a great dream.
But here’s the thing.
Dreams don’t always match reality.
And there’s only one way to find out if you’d actually enjoy it.
Talk to someone who’s already doing it.
Sounds simple, right? Yet so few people do it. Why?
Maybe it’s fear.
Maybe it’s ego.
Maybe they think they already know everything.
But here’s the truth:
You don’t know what it’s like until you try it.
I’ve done this myself. When I was exploring career options, I moonlighted at a tech company. Not because I wanted to switch careers overnight but to see if that world was for me.
Spoiler: it wasn’t.
I’ve even worked in a small grocery store. Why? To see if retail was my thing.
(Spoiler again: it wasn’t.)
But here’s the kicker.
Testing things out before diving in isn’t just smart—it’s necessary. Imagine getting married without dating first. Crazy, right? Yet people throw their savings and time into businesses they’ve never actually experienced.
Take coffee shops, for example. Everyone loves the idea of owning one. The smell of freshly brewed coffee. The cozy vibe. The friendly chats with regulars.
But have you ever talked to a coffee shop owner?
They’ll tell you it’s more than latte art and Instagram-worthy interiors. It’s long hours, managing staff, and hustling to make a profit.
Would you enjoy that? Maybe. Maybe not.
Here’s my suggestion:
Go talk to someone who owns your dream business. Ask them about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Offer to work there part-time or shadow them for a week.
Because the cost of finding out after you’ve invested everything?
It’s way higher than just asking a few questions upfront.
And speaking of investing in your dreams…
If you want to shortcut the learning curve in building a business, here’s your chance:
I’ve created resources to help people like you. Let me know if you are interested. It might just save you time, money, and regret.
Or not.
Your choice.
