Two poems I wrote last night inspired by the year of the snake in Chinese custom.

The first poem has common western connotations:

Creepy Doublecrosses

People who deceive,

Creepy characters,

Ready to strike,

Venomous poison

Behind your back.

Smiling with friendliness,

Until you feel the bite

Of their treacherous fangs.

In the second poem I reverse or flip the connotations:

Nurturing Spirits

Honest, genuine people,

Builders of bonds,

Beautiful and kind,

Ready to give,

To love and to share,

Freely, without reward.

Encouraging and nurturing,

Until you find your feet,

Held by their encircling love.
