What you think is the most precious substance in a country?

When in doubt paddle out.

Any guesses?

If you do a quick Internet search, you will find all sorts of things valued in grams such as saffron, gold and even drugs.

Something that is far more valuable than all of these is the creative person.

I was surprised when I learned that the Tesla corporation has surpassed Ford and GM in market capitalisation. Imagine that. These companies were pioneers in automobiles and at one stage were some of the largest companies ever created.

Imagine the value that could be created if we had the environment to keep and retain entrepreneurs of this calibre. However, it is a sad fact that a hostile environment reigns supreme, chasing away the brightest of the bright like dogs being kicked out of a yard.

Despite the vindictiveness and little or no recognition, some of the brightest entrepreneurs continue to fund small and medium enterprises, giving of their time and energy to assist young entrepreneurs.

Why is this so important?

The world is continually changing. New products and services are required to meet future demands. Bright minds need to be nurtured and developed because they will lead the way in developing new ideas, concepts and products and services.

And it goes without saying that the entrepreneurial businesses being developed now may well become the giant corporations that were based in backyards 30 or 40 years ago such as Microsoft and Apple.

These will become the employers of tomorrow.

For the small business person, the start-up owner, the student aspiring to entrepreneurship where do you start? A good place to begin is to get hold of a copy of “Finding and Developing New Business Ideas: A Step-by-step Guide to Creating New Business Ideas and Making them Viable”.
