I’ve started using X (Twitter) again over the past few months and have been surprised about the arrogance of some account holders who don’t follow you.
I’m not an egotist, but even lowly account holders don’t have the courtesy to reciprocate when you follow them. ?
Well , I’ve got news for X account holders who do this. ??
I was checking through my profile, deleting everyone who doesn’t reciprocate when I follow them.
And I was surprised to see that I am followed by Yoko Ono. At least Yoko Ono, or the administrator of her account, deemed it fit to follow people who follow her, as a courtesy probably.
Another thing that surprises me about X, as it’s known now, is that many individuals and companies haven’t posted for ages. Some lot for many years. ?
I mean, some go back to 2013 with no short messages.
I was surprised to see that Tom Peters, the legendary management consultant and author, posted in December 2023. He seems to be up to date with the platform.
??I’m not quite sure why Twitter became unpopular. At one stage, the activity on Twitter was incredible.
I was able to grow my profile with a large number of followers.
Nowadays i’m gravitating towards ?thinking that if people who I follow don’t want to follow me, I’ll merely delete them off my profile.
I think Twitter started out with this reciprocal courtesy. But it has faded over time.
I find this short messaging platform is still interesting if you want to get fast updates on a subject.
And a variety of different opinions, views and perspectives.
Of course, I’m not sure how effective X, as it is known today, still is.
I find I get much fewer views than I used to, say, five, six years ago.
Perhaps it’s because the activity on X is no longer what it was.
Even though some might think there’s not a place for X anymore, in my humble opinion, I think it is still relevant.
Because it gives you brief, almost headline-like news and views.
And it’s all in one place.
Unlike today, where you have to subscribe to various newsletters to obtain news and views.
When last did you clean up your X profile?
